3D printing in the construction industry

IT might be early days but the prospect of 3D printing shaking-up the world of construction is becoming a reality.

While many see quality control as a problem, prefabrication and robotics could lead to more 3D printers being deployed on building sites.

This new trend, dubbed the fourth industrial revolution by some, may lead to 3D printers being placed on a building site rather than building firms employing armies of brick layers.

This isn’t just pie in the sky thinking since a number of construction experiments around the world have been successfully completed.

For instance, concrete houses have been built by 3D printer in China as well as a functioning office in Dubai.
